Tampa Police Department (TPD) is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred overnight at Emperor’s Gentleman Club on Adamo Drive after an altercation between a security guard and a customer.
Officers responded to a shots fired call shortly before 12:15 a.m. on July 24. When officers arrived, they found an adult male in his early 20s suffering from upper-body trauma. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to TPD, the investigation revealed the man had been ejected from one area of the club before later pushing past venue employees and entering another section of the business that was closed to the public.
A security guard in his early 60s made contact with the man, and a physical altercation followed. TPD said the man repeatedly struck the security guard before the guard fatally shot him.
The security guard remained at the scene and spoke with officers. TPD detectives said they are processing evidence, reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses as part of the investigation. At this time no arrests have been made.
This remains an active investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
