A community cleanup along the Hillsborough River is set for Wednesday, November 13, combining trash collection with a social gathering at Coppertail Brewing Co. The event aims to bring local residents together to help clean one of Tampa’s major waterways while offering a chance to socialize afterward.
The event begins at 3:30 p.m., with volunteers meeting at 4802 N Boulevard in Tampa. After a brief safety talk, participants will spread out along the riverbank to collect litter and debris. The cleanup portion wraps up at 5 p.m. with a group photo and tally of collected trash.
Afterward, volunteers will head to Coppertail Brewing Co. at 2601 E 2nd Avenue for the post-cleanup celebration. Each participant will receive a free beer, and the event includes various giveaways throughout the evening. Prize drawings feature several notable items, including annual family passes to the Glazer Children’s Museum.
Organizers will provide all necessary cleanup supplies, including gloves, trash pickers, and collection bags. Participants should bring personal items like water, sunscreen, and snacks. For safety reasons, closed-toe shoes or water shoes are required, as volunteers will be working near the riverbank.
The cleanup event coincides with Recycling Week and offers residents a hands-on way to improve their local environment. Similar events in the past have removed hundreds of pounds of trash from the river and its banks.
Registration can be completed through the event’s website.
