Over the weekend, three disturbances formed in the Atlantic, and the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is tracking all three systems.
Disturbance 1 is in the eastern and central tropical Atlantic and has a 60% chance of tropical cyclone formation within the next seven days. The NHC said the area of low pressure is located a few hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands. The system is moving slowly westward, and the NHC said a tropical wave over West Africa is expected to merge with the disturbance in the coming days. A tropical depression could form during the latter half of the week as the system moves westward to west-northwest.
Disturbance 2 is in the central tropical Atlantic and has a 10% chance of formation within the next seven days. The disturbance and an associated tropical wave are located midway between the coast of West Africa and the Lesser Antilles. The NHC said the system has some potential for development during the middle of the week as it moves quickly westward across the central tropical Atlantic.
Disturbance 3 is in the western subtropical Atlantic and has a 10% chance of formation within the next seven days. The NHC said the area of low pressure is located a few hundred miles northwest of Bermuda. As the system moves into cooler waters, the NHC said conditions are expected to become unfavorable for further development.
Disturbance 1 has a 20% chance of formation within the next 48 hours, while disturbances 2 and 3 each have a 10% chance of formation.
