The City of Tampa is inviting residents to watch the FIFA World Cup match between Argentina and Cape Verde at a free watch party on Thursday, July 3, at The Sail Plaza outside the Tampa Convention Center.
The event begins at 4 p.m., with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
Cape Verde has called Tampa home during the tournament, training at Tampa Bay Rowdies' stadium, and city officials are encouraging residents to support the team while also welcoming Tampa's Argentine community.
"The FIFA World Cup has an incredible way of bringing people together across cultures, languages, and borders," Mayor Jane Castor said in a press release. "We're proud to host Cape Verde as they continue their remarkable World Cup journey, representing their nation on the world's biggest stage. This watch party is an opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate the game, and show why Tampa is such a welcoming place for fans from around the world."
Four large video screens will be installed throughout Sail Plaza to provide ample viewing space for attendees.
The event is free and open to the public.
