The Reading Cellar is hosting monthly events at Vino Bistro in Sarasota that connect independent authors with readers through book signings and conversation. The series, which began on August 13, 2026, with six featured authors and 35 guests, has grown to 42 guests by its October 29, 2026 event.
Founded by independent author Jess Traw, The Reading Cellar was created to give authors a welcoming, intimate setting to share their work and build connections. "At The Reading Cellar, we believe books are meant to be shared," Traw said. "We bring authors and readers together over wine, conversation, and stories that stay with you long after the evening end's"
Each month, Traw curates five to seven authors for an evening that includes book signings and direct interaction with readers. Authors keep 100% of their book sales, and readers can discover new books and speak with the people who wrote them. The events are designed for readers who love discovering books and meeting authors, independent authors looking to connect with readers, and community members who enjoy lively literary events.
Traw started The Reading Cellar after recognizing how important it is for independent authors to connect with readers and fellow writers. "I started The Reading Cellar to create a welcoming space where independent authors could share their books and meet readers," she said. "Each month, I curate five to seven authors for an evening of book signings, conversation, and connection."
Looking ahead, The Reading Cellar is planning an Indie Author & Reader Cruise aboard MSC World America, sailing October 30 to November 6, 2027. The cruise will feature 35 authors, four guest speakers, and four bookish vendors, with panels, masterclasses, book signing days, meet and greets, and a masquerade gala. Guest speakers include Hollywood monster creator and author Lynette Eklund, medical journalist, author, and patent creator Lisa F. Crites, international TV and movie writer and author J.H. Bogran, and New York Times bestselling author Lynda Haviland. Reader packages are available to join the cruise. Traw said space is still available for authors.
