With the holiday rush coming through, one thing that is expected is airport delays. One in every five passengers who flew in the United States this year had the misfortune of their flight departing late.

Using data from the Department of Transportation from September 2022 to August 2023, TravelPerk investigated 25 of the country’s busiest airports and ranked them based on the percentage of departure flights that had delays.

Here in the United States, airlines are not required to pay passengers for flight delays. However, because each firm has its unique policy, passengers may be able to acquire something in exchange for the inconvenience of a delay.
