The new year is a great time to start thinking about your next trip, but for residents in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida, it can seem like a vacation every day—a view that TripAdvisor would likely agree with!
While it should come as no surprise that a Florida city would make the list, St. Pete is the clear winner among the winners of the online travel agency’s “Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best”!
St. Pete was named the second “Best of the Best Destination” in the United States by Tripadvisor in 2024 because of the city’s endless sunshine, shimmering beaches, and outdoor activities.
“The sun almost always shines on St. Petersburg, the ‘Sunshine City’ that enjoys an average of 361 days of clear skies per year. Combine that with 244 miles of glimmering coastline along Tampa Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, Boca Ciega Bay and the intra-coastal waterways and you have one hot beach destination.”
“Catch the sun, surf and sand at Ft. De Soto Park, or take a hike up the 37-mile Pinellas Trail. Enjoy a Devil Rays game during baseball season or escape to the shady oasis of the Sunken Gardens,” Tripadvisor’s website read.
The travel company says St. Pete is “great for” whale watching, bars, stand-up paddleboarding, and nightlife after dark.
The locations that earn a lot of “above-and-beyond reviews and opinions” from their community over the course of a year are the winners; they include hotels, restaurants, and attractions.
Only 1% of the 8 million listings on Tripadvisor are awarded the Best of the Best title, which denotes the “ultimate standard of excellence in travel.”
