Strategic Property Partners announced two new food and beverage concepts opening at Sparkman Wharf in March, expanding dining options at the downtown Tampa waterfront destination.

The additions mark the latest expansion at Sparkman Wharf as development continues across Water Street Tampa. Developers say, in a press release, these concepts will offer a premier waterfront dining and social experience.

Smith’s Provisions and The Back Bar will introduce new food and beverage experiences for guests.

Smith’s Provision will feature an American-classic menu inspired by roadside burger stands. The menu is designed to offer quick and high-quality dining. Customers can order classic burgers and sandwiches to enjoy throughout the outdoor space.

The Back Bar will offer a full-service bar for guests craving a specialty cocktail or a glass of wine.

Both concepts are being created by the Cru Hospitality Group. This group is a Tampa-based hospitality company that has multiple concepts on Water Street, including Wine on Water and Small Giant.

Kyle King, chief executive officer of Cru Hospitality Group, said these concepts were intentionally designed for Sparkman Wharf.

“We’ve designed both concepts to feel natural within the Sparkman Wharf experience. From the menu to the bar program to the place of service, both concepts are meant to feel like they have always belonged here,” King said in a press release.

Josh Taube, chief executive officer of Strategic Property Partners, said the goal was to create a space for unique concepts to debut and grow at this location.

“Smith’s Provisions and The Black Bar reflect exactly what makes Sparkman special and create new reasons for people to spend time along our waterfront,” Taube said in a press release.

The project cost was not disclosed. Officials said construction will be minimal because the concepts will operate out of the shipping containers that define the Dining Garden’s design, allowing visitors to continue using the venue during buildout. The Back Bar will not replace the existing bar near the turf.

Strategic Property Partners partnered with Groundswell Design Group to open the waterfront destination in 2018. Sparkman Wharf features eight food vendors in its Dining Garden, along with seven additional restaurants, three fitness studios and retail and office space.

Modifications for the new concepts are expected to conclude in March. Sparkman Wharf offers a variety of events throughout the year which can be found on its website.
