Science advances thanks to minds that dare to challenge limits, regardless of where in the world they come from. This is the case of a group of Venezuelan professionals who, from Utah, are redefining chemical manufacturing in the United States through industrial solutions inspired by academic knowledge from almost half a century ago.
In 1975, researchers J. Ruzicka and E. H. Hansen marked a milestone in analytical chemistry with the development of Flow Injection Analysis (FIA), a technique that allowed for the automation of chemical reactions with an unprecedented level of precision and speed. That idea, conceived for laboratory experiments, has been reinterpreted and adapted by teams from PM Chemical Solutions and Canyon State Industries—companies with operations in Utah—to become a continuous production industrial platform designed and built by Venezuelan talent.
The result is an innovative continuous-flow chemical synthesis technology that enables the real-time manufacturing of a wide variety of compounds for the agricultural, petrochemical, and manufacturing sectors. Unlike batch processes, this system offers uninterrupted operation, advanced automation, energy optimization, and a significant reduction in waste generation.
This technological leap not only boosts industrial efficiency but also strengthens the local economy. Continuous production allows for more stable materials, more competitive operating costs, and more sustainable processes, solidifying Utah as an emerging leader in advanced chemical manufacturing.
