The Tampa Bay area is waking up to damage and debris after overnight severe weather moved slowly through the area.
Several trees fell in the Clearwater region, and cars and structures were damaged near Eldorado Avenue and Bay Esplanade.
One property in Clearwater’s North Beach neighborhood experienced considerable damage.
According to officials, an old woman was sleeping at the time, but she is safe.
“It was like a freight train,” homeowner Cory Jursik said. “It got really loud and it was almost like I could feel the air getting — the wind getting sucked out of the house. So I looked out the front window and it was like rain-wrapped and obviously looked like a tornado and it just came right up through here.”
According to inspectors, the facility has been judged hazardous due to exposed wiring and structural difficulties.
The road was also closed due to there being pieces of furniture and drywall scattered everywhere, while areas remain to have no power.
