Even though we haven’t had many “typical” summer days this season, today will seem like one.
We start out dry, and temperatures climb quickly. Highs reach the low 90s, and it’ll feel like 100-105 through the afternoon.
The earliest showers will appear west of I-75 around midday, but the heaviest rain will fall further inland later this afternoon and into the evening. The sea winds from the east and west coasts meet at this point. Some of the showers attempt to return to the Gulf of Mexico, but they fade after sunset.
A stronger easterly wind tomorrow will push storms toward the Gulf of Mexico earlier in the day, bringing some relief to our coastal cities who haven’t gotten much rain this summer.
Without the sea wind, our temperatures will surge into the mid-90s tomorrow.
Our best chance of rain comes on Friday, when tropical moisture flows throughout the state. In the afternoon, the storms are continuing moving toward the Gulf of Mexico.
This weekend, we’ll have typical late-afternoon storms with highs in the low 90s, and that trend will continue for the rest of the week.
