This morning, Tampa Bay residents should watch out for a few scattered showers near the coast. The rain risk then rises to 50% this afternoon. And later today, the majority of the storms will be east of I-75.
Today’s highs will be approaching 90 degrees due to the additional clouds and showers. There may be a few lingering showers into Friday evening, so bring an umbrella or poncho to the high school football games.
This weekend will also see afternoon and nighttime thunderstorms. Saturday has a little better probability than Sunday, although storms develop and sweep inland with the sea breeze on both days.
Most of next week will be classic September weather with highs in the low 90s and a 30% chance of afternoon storms.
We’ll also keep an eye on Hurricane Lee into next week – the most significant period will be when it turns north. The further west it travels before turning, the more likely it is that areas near the US east coast may be affected next week.
